Starfarm Newsletter October
Welcome to Autumn!
Summer was a good season this year, if only a little draughty. Autumn has brought some cooler temperatures in the morning, so our class at the Thompson Gazebo has moved indoors for the season, with a new seniors session of classes beginning Oct 2nd.
As requested, I have removed the requirement for log-in to post a comment or reply…scroll down and you will see a box to type in an email message. I will be the only one able to read the post, unless you tell me that you are okay with the question or comment being made available to read. Please send your questions to me here!
As for other schedule updates, a new beginner series of eight classes for the 60 posture form (at Starfarm) starts on 10/29, a Monday and 10/31, a Wednesday. Just a reminder about those classes: when you register for classes, say on Monday nights, you may also attend the Wed, and Sunday morning sessions…as for “training habits, it is best to pick one night, and stick with it, rather than jump around…unless you commit yourself to twice a week, or 3 times a week. Keep the other sessions in mind as a back up in the event that you have a conflict.
Many have asked, and so on Thursday, Oct 25th, I will again be offering an introduction to healing with human energy, “The WeiQigong of Professor Duan”. In this workshop, you will learn and practice with a partner a powerful technique for inducing a deeply restful state of body and mind. Wide awake, yet totally fascinated with the Internal experience. You’ll get to give and recieve as practice with a partner. 930-1230. Email via comment form below (a private communication), or call me: 860 455 0353. Maimum number of persons is 8. For those who have already taken the training, please come to the Weiqigong share on Saturday Oct27th, 230 to 500 PM. Everyone likes finger food! For lots more details visit WWW.WeiqiGong.COM
I have been speaking with the REC department at Thompson, and we are working on a Saturday workshop for November: Tai Chi for Diabetes…I’ll let you know with a flash bulleting once we have a plan!
In our classes we have been brushing broadly by the idea that in practicing our routines, we are working the bodys’ energy by manipulating meridians and points. I have put together some further thought about understanding this idea in an article “An Ancient World View, Medicine for a Modern Age”, which is in the index above, and also introduces some more information about the entire process. I hope you enjoy the reading…planning a Saturday workshop in January to explore even further.
Speaking of Workshops, next year, I will be hosting a quarterly series of workshops for serious students who’d like to learn even more. They will be featured in Tai Chi Magazine in December, Sponsored by the Health Preservation Association. Next month’s newsletter will have full details, but you can get the gist of it: here.
For the adventurous, my “Free EBook About Qigong” is still available free, all you need to do is just claim it…its free!
And on a final note, some pleasant music for practice can be found: here.
